We asked Listij users to name their number one use for making lists. Travel was the most common response. It was no surprise to us. Making detailed lists reduces the stress and anxiety of preparing for a big trip, business or vacation, by a huge factor. The best part is, the lists can be refined as a template and reused each trip. It really is the “secret weapon” for seasoned travelers.
Let’s dive into a basic sample folder/list structure to get you started. We can’t wait to hear what you come up with as improvements to this approach.
Make a folder titled “Travel”
Create lists with separate focused categories. Here are some examples of the contents of each list:
(See examples of useful lists below)
Home Prep: Turn off hot water heater, water indor plants, vacuum, check all gas valves off, turn off main water valve.
Electronics: laptop, charging cable, charging power supply, earbuds, extra mouse, extra mouse pad
Packing: 4 x dress shirts, 8 x underwear, 4 x casual shirts, 1 x warm coat, 1 x hairbrush, 1 x toothpaste, 1 x dental floss, 2 x contact lens
Pro Tips:
◊ When preparing to return from your trip, move all items back to pending and check each one off as you pack to make sure items return home with you!
◊ Refine each list each time and reuse them as templates for your next trip.
◊ Share the entire folder with travel partners and divide up the responsibilities. Remember, all folders and lists are synced real-time, so you can see if your partner is forgetting anything.
